Jane Austen wrote about her world and the things that she knew best. Her intricate detail outlines human behavior precisely and accurately. Her humor is enjoyable as some of her characters make big pompous displays and occasionally make fools of themselves. She portrays life as it truly is and that is even accurate in modern ways today. Her writing style was elegant and satirical. Jane's work marked the transition in English literature from neo-classicism to romanticism.

Jane Austen wrote novels about love and marriage. She also wrote poetry, essays, and other things, but she is not really remembered for these things.

edit: Jane Austen was one of the greatest novel writers of her time, writing romantic fiction as well as essays and epistolary novels. Confining her writing to love and marriage is a bit too narrow. It is well known her novels contain what is usually called "art of conversation", particularly popular in that time.

Jane Austen wrote romance novels set in Great Britain during the late 18th century, when she lived. Over the whole course of her career, she probably made little more than a few hundred pounds.

Recent remakes of her beloved novels include Pride and Prejudice and Zombies or Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters.
