What is Limewire?In: Computers |
Answer
Limewire appears to be a peer-to-peer software program for downloading/stealing music. It is full of adware, spyware and computer bugs that has destroyed my sisters computer. Once it was installed in the computer, malicious software and dialers would freeze the internet service and attempt to re-route the connection. Eventually, we bought a new hard drive and had to re-install windows and all other programs. Steer clear of Limewire!
Answer
LimeWire is a perfectly legal peer to peer file sharing application. If you read the site's documentation, LimeWire warns its users not to download copyright protected works. On the site LimeWire states quite clearly that the acceptable usage is to publish and distribute your own original works.
I believe it also warns that some ''users'' of the software upload infected files.
I wouldn't be getting any ideas...people can and have been caught and prosecuted for using filesharing apps to commit copyright infringement by either uploading OR downloading protected Intellectual Property. And it serves them right for doing the wrong thing. I've no sympathy at all for someone who flagrantly violates others' rights.
