Naruto is a very successful Anime/Manga series produced in Japan by Masashi Kishimoto. It is now shown worldwide and is successful on both USA and Europe.
Plot
12 years ago, a Nine-Tailed Deamon Fox (Kyubi no Yoko) attacked the shinobi (ninja) village of Konohagure (The Village Hidden in the Leaves). The Kyubi was considered so powerful, it was treated as a natural disaster in mythology. With a single whip of one of his nine tails, he could flatten mountains and cause tsunamis hit the shore.
Then, came one shinobi to seal the monster, at the cost of his own life. That shinobi, was the Fourth Hokage (Yondaime Hokage, Minato Namikaze).
He sealed the beast within his newborn son. Naruto Uzumaki.
12 years after the incident, Naruto is a hyperactive kid, who trains to be a ninja.
Development
Naruto started much like all of Japan's Animes, Manga.
Naruto's Manga consists of 403 chapters (Up to 12th June 2008) and growing, the Anime is based on that Manga.
Based on the Anime, video games and movies were produced. Making it very popular even in the US and many other countries.
Naruto Shippuuden (Naruto Hurricane Chronicles)
At Episode 220, Naruto leaves the village with Jiriya in order to train. 21⁄2 years later, Naruto returns to the village to continue adventures, and more importantly, find and retrieve Sasuke.

Naruto is an anime series created by Masashi Kishimoto. Naruto is on the TV and in comic books like Shonen Jump and all sorts of different stuff. Naruto also has video games, in the anime series he is the main character his name is Naruto Uzumaki a 12-13 year old boy who has the nine-tailed fox demon sealed in him. The demon was sealed in him by his own father the Third Hokage of the village hidden in the leaves (or Konoha) he has two comrads Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno. Their village is filled with ninja and different ranks of ninja. Naruto wants to become Chunin so he takes the Chunin Exams and finds himself in a lot of trouble! His dream is to become Hokage of the leaf village!
