Most people call this "breaking their water." * Premature rupture of membranes (PROM) occurs when the amniotic membranes are ruptured (water breaks) before actual labor has started. I had a miscarraige at 18 weeks and 5 days do to pPROM caused by IC incompete cervix. Im a normal healthy 26 yr old female i have 3 children 2 are living and onc has his wings. My water broke at 18 weeks and he was still alive so i keep faith and held him inside of me for 5 days until my water was all gone and my little baby Collin was born Vaginal no D&C hard labor pains no meds just natural child birth. Prematurity is a tragedy. Preemies face many more issues than full term babies, and extremely premature babies like Noah rarely escape without some sort of long term consequences. Life will always be more of a challenge for Noah, and more of a challenge for me because he came into my life. That just means that we'll develop strong characters along the way - something that's sorely lacking in our society today. Raising an extremely premature son isn't easy. I wouldn't have picked it for myself if given a choice. No one would. But Noah has given me the ability to be thankful for every little thing in my life and for that I am eternally grateful. Benjamin, an amazing micro-preemie, was born at 23 weeks and 3 days gestation on February 7th, 2011 - weighing in at 1 lbs, 12 oz. He is a real fighter and has beaten so many odds already, including PPROM at 19 weeks gestation. Amelia Elizabeth was born on April 2, 2009 at 12:08 am. She finally made it home after a NICU stay of 335 days. We are so happy to finally be together as a family. Amelia has grown to be a very happy, joyful and social baby. We are thankful for all the people that worked together with Amelia to bring her home safely. Now the fun begins!
