Al-Quran: Surat Al-Baqara, Verse 185.
Ramadhan is the ( month) in which was sent down The Quran, as a quide to mankind, also clear ( signs)for guidance and judgement( between wrong and right). So every one of you who is present (at his home)during that month should spend it in fasting. But if any one is ill, or on a journey. the prescribed period ( should be made up) by days later. Allah intends every facility for you. He does not want to put you to difficulties( he wants you) to complete the prescribed period and glorify him, in that he has quided you.And perchance you shall be grateful. ( TRANSLATION BY ABDULLAH YUSUF ALI).
Muslims are to fast in the month of Ramadan ,which is not eating from dawn till sunset,.Furthermore Muslims have to abstain from sins,not use foul and vulgar language,he should increase the remembrance of Allah and be well -mannered.
Ramadan is the time of Allah's mercy when the path to Jannah becomes easier
"When Ramadan starts ,the doors of Heaven are opened and the doors of of Hell are closed and the devils chained up"The Prophet pbuh said.
The aim of Ramadan is to guard against evil and make a Muslim pious.The quran says:
"O you who believe ,fasting was prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you that you may achieve righteousness"
Fasting has various benefits .It develops emphathy for the needy and also gives a rest to our digestive systems.
