Is the representation of the many by the select few.

Is a network that will bring people together for a purpose - to effect improvement and change while socially or professionally networking. It focuses particularly on the strength of the technology intelligence of its community and members should leverage this resource; Other sites might help you with travel and dining options, this network is here to crystallize ideas and help you make things happen.

Is a network that will aim to create meaningful relationships, enhance communication between members and let the content be the focus, rather than the bells and whistles. By content, I mean the ideas, insights, experiences, thoughts and opportunities we share and not the online gestures of poke, tickle, hug --- things that take away from meaningful collective experiences and shared intelligence.

Is private but not exclusive. We want to be selective about whom we invite and not about how many we have on our buddylists. Every member will be held accountable for their invitees and with that comes the responsibility for the community to regulate itself.

Will aim to be known for the leaders it will cultivate, for the projects it has nurtured, for the friendships it has forged and fundamentally for the interactions it will create. Remember this will be achieved not through science, technology, internet/web-based widgets, but by our attitude and approach. Don't forget this.

ADDENDUM TO INTRODUCTION
SENATUS as the name of the community is in tandem with a larger project of mine called ThePOPULUS. Senatus Populuss Que Romanus *SPQR* is a latin "call-to-arms", so to speak, going back to the formation of the Roman Republic where the senators represented the people, who with them formed the republic itself.

SENATUS is formed with the notion of a private network, at which members can come and form "functional" relationships as opposed to the superficial "friendship" links being made on so many of the large social networks. It will have a social agenda, driving to drive and empower individuals who have so often stumped by a lack of access to willing peers/partners in other industries.

Competitors in the space include the private exclusive invite-only networks like ASMALLWORLD, a luxury play. Most other equivalent sites provides contexts on
