Answer2Sesame Street who got its start on November 10th 1969 and it was a program created to givekids of way of learning their ABCs and 123s with a bit of an Urban flair and also
address cultural issues and differences. If you go back and see the old Sesame Street
its almost representative of the cultural revolution that now is so common today.
The show was filmed primarily in Manhattan and parts of Queens and derived the
name "Sesame Street." Though many people recognize Jim Henson as a household
name still many do not know that Jim Henson was the backbone of Sesame Street
because he created alot of the puppets in the show. One creation of his commonly
known is Kermit the Frog who played the Weatherman many times getting blown
away by a strong storm wind. The other muppets made appearances quite regularly
but Jim Henson created The Muppet Show, another hit, not long after. My
favorite character being GROVER who plays the waiter that is totally oblivious to
the needs of his customers and is always making mistakes. He also plays
Super Grover who likes making crash landings. Sesame Street still comes on TV but it
is a mix of clips from the much older shows and the newer ones, new characters
being "Gabby" "Panwapa" "Zoey" The oldest shows are on DVD called "Old School
Sesame Street" for about $24 dollars.
