What is Spokane's nickname?

Spokane, Washington's nickname is "The Lilac City." It was given this nickname because ever since the early 1900's, Spokane parks, businesses, and homes have historically had a large number of lilac flowers on display. Manito Park and Coeur d'Alene parks are good places to view these beautiful purple flowers during the summer months. Since 1938, the city has had an annual Spokane Lilac Festival.
