when they made the constitution, there were federalists and antifederalists. the antifederalist found that the constitution did not guarantee individual rights so they didn't like it. they made a compromise to add the Bill of Rights amendments to the constitution. all of the rights are to make sure every citizen has the same rights and they have freedom. you should look up bill of right amendments and meanings and you will see some advantages we have with rights and the freedoms we have:

The reason behind the Bill of Rights in the U.S. Constitution is to protect the natural rights of the citizens living there. Those natural rights being, Life, Liberty, and Property. (On a side note, these rights were introduced by a philosopher of the time name John Locke)

The only way that the Democratic-Republican party (Anti-Federalists) would approve of the constitution was if a Bill of Rights was added. They protect individual rights and freedom.
