It depends on what you are talking about.

1) United Nations: A number of people use the acronym UNO to refer to the United Nations Organization. The United Nations was created at the end of World War II for the main purpose of creating peace. The world was shattered by the war and the League of Nations that came before was an utter failure. Right now, the UN has many branches like the World Bank and the World Health Organization so it has many roles in the world today like giving funds to countries or trying to exterminate diseases.

However, its main purpose was, and still is to maintain peace and order in this world and to help facilitate relationships with other countries. That's its main purpose but the question is, is that what they are actually doing? Is the UN really capable of maintaining peace in this world? Is it really that much better than the League of Nations? A lot of history books say so. And then in the next chapter, they discuss the Vietnam War, the massacre in Cambodia, the Iran-Iraq War, the many wars in the Middle East involving Israel and the Arab countries, the conflict in Somalia, the Bosnian and Rwandan genocides, the massacres in Kosovo, Saddam butchering his own people...the list goes on...

If the UN can really bring peace, then why did all those things happen? The answer is simple, the UN CANNOT bring world peace. Just like the League of Nations, it is too weak, it does not have power over the different countries of the world

2) Spanish for One: Uno is the Spanish word for "one"

3) Card Game: There is a card game with specific cards called UNO where each player tries to discard as many cards as possible by matching color or number with the cards in a central pile.
