NO, I don't think the YLOD is ever a harddrive problem from what I have read so that is not a solution worth trying. There are a number of sites that discuss it and also YouTube videos. Yes Most games that were out then did work, but not without errors and other problems for some of the games. You could send it to sony but they charge £150 and you have to wait up to 6 weeks to get it back, you could download guides of the internet or by them on eBay but there is not that many. I think the best option is watch it on you tube, the best one to watch is Gilksy.

everything except the motherboard. I hope that you are aware that you can fix ylod your self by taking ps3 apart since you want to sell it anyway. And once you get to mother board you just resolder the cpu created soldering bridge or bridges and make it work again.

Even the fixes that can be done for YLOD are temporarily and have too be repeated every few months. There's a link or two about it at some sites that I put under the related links. A Hair dryer is for when you get something wet like a mobile phone or controller by spilling on it. Placing something in bag of rice is another method for drying water out of an electrical device.
