"1394" refers to the number of the IEEE standard created for "Firewire", a high speed serial wired communications protocol developed by Apple Computer to transfer digital data over short distances, such as between computers and external hard disks. Serial means that the signal is carried over a single pair of wires known as a twisted pair, using low voltage differential signaling, a method that supports both high speed and good noise immunity. Additional wires carry ground and power. Prior systems used parallel wiring with 8 or more wires carrying a byte at a time, but at lower bit rates. The cables were bulky and expensive, hence the desire for a serial standard. The original standard, Firewire 400, supported 400 Mbps, a later version, Firewire 800, 800 Mbps (using additional wires, but still many fewer than parallel interfaces). Similar to USB 2.0, Firewire is generally faster, and supports daisy chaining and hot swapping. Additional information may be found at HowStuffWorks.com or Wikipedia under "Firewire".

The official term is IEEE 1394, it is called Firewire and is competing against USB for ports on the computer. Firewire transmits 400Mbps while USB transmits 480Mbps. Most people use Firewire for downloading photos on their cameras while they use USB to downland data.

1394 Connection is a firewire connection used to connect devices such as storage, pic, and video hardware. People get confused thinking that it is a device for connecting to a network or internet provider. Such is not the Case.

Question is not proper.

Should the 1394 connection enabled for wireless connection?

No. 1394 is firewire. You don't need 1394 / firewire to connect to a wireless connection. However, considering I havn't seen firewire on a laptop for awhile now Im going to assume you are on a desktop..?!?If this is the case, desktops don't natively connect to wireless connections (say the way a laptop would) so usually you have to hook up some sort of extra device. Any external devices I have seen were all USB, but if you were using an external device that connected to the computer via firewire - then yes you would need the firewire enabled. But again, in saying that, if firewire wasnt enabled and you plugged in your device it wouldn't work at all - in any way, shape or form.Enabling firewire isn't hard either. Usually takes all of 3 minutes to do. You could just enable it anyway, incase you need to use it in future.
