Assuming the coin is circulated, the 1889-O Morgan dollar is a slightly better date of the series. Most coins show heavy wear. For an accurate assessment of value the coin needs to be seen and graded. In general retail values for low grade coins are $32.00-$39.00, better grade are $40.00-$43.00 and coins showing almost no wear run from $44.00-$60.00. Values are a market average and only for coins in collectible condition, coins that are bent, corroded, scratched, used as jewelery or have been cleaned have far less value if any to a collector or dealer.
It's common but is a little better date/mint Morgan, in the lower circulated grades values are still $17.00-$30.00 but in the AU grades values are $70.00-$230.00
A 1978-D Eisenhower dollar has no silver in it and is only face value.
Value of any coin is determined by grade, mintmark, date, condition and demand.
Average retail value is $80.00
August 2011>> This coin in MS-65 uncirculated grade is worth approx. $700 according to Numismedia.

Someone said about $20, a silver dollar with 90% silver is around 0.77 ounce. the value of the silver alone is $35. So not sure why the person answered that its only 17-20. I have the same coin. I think from researching my own coin is worth about $40-$45
In a Bicentennial Eisenhower Dollar, there is 0% Silver, unless San Francisco(S) Proof Coin, some were minted in 40% Silver. Hope this helps.
It depends on when the answer was originally written, values of silver coins change with the rise and fall of the price of silver. Also most questions about coin values are very vague and lack details. Example: How much is a 1890 silver dollar worth?Does it have a mintmark? What grade? Has it been cleaned?. Plus we can't see the coin. The more information we get the better the answer. SO...... As of 5-28-11. The 1890 MORGAN dollar with no mintmark is very common, a average circulated coin in collectible condition is $38.00 to $44.00 depending on which of the 9 major numismatic grades the coin falls into.
