There were 19.187 million Philippines 50c coins minted in San Francisco (S) that year and it contains .2411 of an ounce of silver. It may be worth about $2 with moderate wear to maybe $5 if uncirculated. You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info. Brad

Today I got one from a cashier at Pizza Hut, also. I gave her one dollar and asked for four quarters and the girl gave me three quarters and one of these coins which must have been mistaken as a quarter by the girl.

I have researched it for a little bit and I have learned that once the Philippians were a part of the USA and the word after 'centavo' is a Spanish word for Philippians. The coin isn't that rare since a least 55,000 were released in 1944 from the US.

This coin ranges from about 2-6 dollars and isn't very rare but I suggest you keep a hold of it since it may be worth more in the future! Thanks for reading this response!
