A Muslim teacher is generally called a "mu-dar-ris" which comes from the "dars" meaning "lesson" so the "mu-dar-ris" is the one giving the lesson and the school is called the "mad-ra-sa". There are several other alternative words for Muslim teachers such as "'Ustaadh" or "Mu'allim" which are both derived from words related to "knowledge".
