P0456 is a small leak detected in the fuel evaporative system. The usual culprit is a bad gas cap.
Or cracked vacuum hoses between the tank and engine.
OEM gas cap O-ring had many hairline cracks. Replacing it with a non-MOPAR, parts house cap fixed the problem. It does not have a hole for the tether "string" is the only downside. Had previously replaced 1/2 dozen broken plastic clamps with stainless clamps on the evap. system hoses underneath Caravan, but they alone did not fix the problem. An OBD II reader that bluetooth connects to smartphone read, then cleared the P0456 code, and has not re-appeared.
Wondering if I can drill a small hole in gas cap handle to attach the tether? Or will that create plastic chaff that will then get into the spring-loaded pressure relief valve inside the cap and ruin it??
