PC means Personal Computer
In the context of computers, PC refers to Personal Computer and was coined by IBM when they introduced their first desktop microcomputers in the early 80's. The IBM from IBM PC was pretty much dropped as many companies began manufacturing desktop computers(initially called IBM PC clones) and PC became a generic reference to any brand of desktop microcomputer.
