While these are very well made firearms, the value of the traditional sidelock rifles has decreased as in-line muzzle loaders have become more popular. These can be found in very good condition for about $250. I shoot a T-C Hawken in 50 cal, and it is an excellent rifle.
You can order direct from Thompson Center or Dixie Gun Works also Midway USA. All have on line stores. You will need to know the model and caliber.
New? $300.
The value varies by condition and seller between $150 and $800.
A 'muzzle loader' is any firearm (or cannon) which does not have a breech mechanism and which is 'charged' (loaded with powder and shot) from the muzzle end of the barrel.
Depends on what you are shooting, roundball or slugs. Book says between 55 and 85 with 105 max.
