What is a barbershop quartet?

A barbershop quartet is 4 people together who have different parts sing.

One is the tenor which is the highest. The next is the lead who most of the time sings the melody. Then theres the baritone who harmonies and last is the bass who has the lowest voice out of them all.

So basically barbershop is harmonising ad what a fantastic sound it makes!! There is mens barbershop and womans barbershop.
