The term LED is ambiguous when it comes to television.
At the time of writing, in early 2013, LED generally refers to an LCD television with LEDs as the back lighting instead of cold cathode fluorescent tubes. They offer a more energy efficient lighting solution but in both cases, the image is generated by the LCD panel that controls the passing of light to generate the image.
Some people prefer the image from LED lit televisions but it is a subjective view.
However, true LED televisions have made an entry to the market and will become more common in the coming years. They are frequently known as OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode). In these models, every pixel has a red, green and blue LED. To build the image, each set of LEDs are varied in brightness and it is the LEDs themselves that create the picture rather than a second layer as in the LCD type. These televisions have the capability of displaying higher contrast rations and even lower energy consumption. This is a departure from LCD technology and the images are likely to be noticeably different to LCD types.
They are both LCD. The "LCD" you are thinking of uses fluorescent lighting to light it up, while the other "LCD" called "LED" uses L.E.D.s for lighting.
The LED lighting is much more even, sharp, and bright than the traditional fluorescent lighting.
LCD
LED tvs are far more energy efficient than LCD tvs, although they do tend to be more expensive. Also, LED picture quality is typically better than LCD pictures.
LED is generally thought of as being better, for many reasons. The picture isn't as dark, and no image can be burned into the picture, Generally speaking, images can get burnt into LCD screens rather easy, from only leaving it on for too long.
led is better than lcd tv
LED's are usually also LCD's. LED LCD's are usually better as you do not have to worry about the light bulb will not burn out because led's last longer. I would suggest LED LCD's as the lightbulb not burning out will save you some money.
lcd watever
LED
Depends. People say true LED TVs give a better picture over the traditional LCD TVs simply cause it covers a more wide area. True LED TVs are made with higher resolution then normal TVs of today.
Plasma screen TVs differ from LCD or LED TVs. Plasma TVs use electrically charged ionized gas to display the picture. The advantages of a plasma TV are that they provide a clearer and better picture than LCD or LED TVs.
The difference between led hdtv and lcd hdtv is that the led uses led lighting instead of lcd lighting that's used in computers and cell phones. the lcd hdtv is the oldest model and the led is the newest. With the led the picture is clearer.
Plasma has the best picture for the money spent. It is heavier and the brightness is not as vibrant as LCD/LED sets.
Most people like LCD better because it has better graphics and sound.
LED televisions have better color contrast than LCD televisions. LCD televisions have better viewing angles than LED televisions do, meaning that viewing to television from the side is more comfortable with the LCD televisions than with the LED televisions.
