Answer:There is no "Buddhist Bible", really, but there are many names for a number of different texts that are important in Buddhism:

The Pali Cannon is a large collection of books that are said to contain all of the teachings of the Buddha.

Sutras are individual texts in Buddhism, and often individual sects or groups of practitioners will particularly study and revere one Sutra.

The Dhammapada may be the closest thing to a "Buddhist Bible". It contains the core of the Buddhas teachings in verse. It is one of the most common collections of the Buddha's words

THE VEDAS are the most important and sacred texts of Hindus. The Vedas are the world's most ancient scripture.

The earliest written Vedas date to about 1400 B.C.E (Before the Common Era), but the songs they capture in letters are a great deal older, although no one can say by how much.

The language of the Vedas is Sanskrit, a language that is so holy that the very word Sanskrit means "perfect".

The original written Vedas are four:

  1. The Rig Veda
  2. The Sama Veda
  3. The Yajur Veda
  4. The Atharva Veda

Each Veda has four layers:

  1. Samhitas (a collection of hymns)
  2. Brahmanas (directions about sacrifice)
  3. Aranyaka (the forest songs)
  4. Upanishads(wich search for the meaning behind it all)

Other sacred texts of Hindus are:

  1. Ramayana
  2. Mahabharatha
  3. Bhagwad Geeta
  4. Srimad Bhagvatam
  5. Manusmriti
  6. Shiva Puranam

There is no exact name of Buddhism Bible, but there are some important texts for this religion, which we can call The Bible if we take them together.

1. The Dhammapada also known as Dharmapada (comes from Dharma)

2. Sutras

3. The Pali Cannon (the collection of texts about the Budha)

I guess these three names express and are called the Bible of Buddhism.

What kind of Bible do Buddhists read?

There is no 'Bible' in Buddhism, unlike it's religious counterparts (Islam and Christians). BUT, Buddhism has this thing (something like a bible. But it does not contain words from 'God'. Instead, it contains the teachings and sayings of Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism) called 'Buddhist Scriptures'. It contains sacred texts from many canonical or non-canonical texts regarding Buddhism. But these texts weren't compiled into a book unlike the Bible.Example of Buddhist Scriptures (Or Buddhist Sacred Texts):1. The Pali Canon2. Mahayana SutrasI suggest to the public that you should look up to Wikipedia on Buddhism. It answers your questions regarding whether Buddhism has a 'Bible' or not.

What came first Buddhism or the bible?

Buddhism came first, according to the present evidence.Answer:Buddhism predated Christianity by 500 years or so. However Judaism (the cultural antecedent of Christianity) and Hinduism (the cultural origin of Buddhism) both preceded these religions by thousands of years. The Bible is another matter. It is was put into its present format over the past 1500 years or so. Many Christians do not consider a Bible to be a Bible unless it contains the "New Testament." It is however preceded by the Jewish Torah which is claimed to go back to the initiation of the Jewish faith (at least to the time of Moses)All this gets a time line in order. The Bible in its present format (Old and New Restament) has been around for less than 1500 years, Buddhism has been around for 2500 years.
