What is a cattle brand?

Answer:
It is a permanent mark of identification that is burned onto the flank of the cattle that signifies what ranch they belong to. Different symbols or letters that are used as a kind of code to decipher who's livestock belongs to who. Brands are also used on horses for the same reason as stated above.
