A military courts martial is a legal proceding that is conducted under the rules and regulations of the military. There is a judge, jury and attorneys involved. In some cases these are very informal, as in the case of a Special Courts Martial, in which an officer, 0-3 or above, conducts the entire proceeding and serves as the judge, defense and presecution with no jury. Or it can be a full fledged trial with 12 jurors and judge and members of the Judge Advocate General's staff serving as the prosecution and defense.
