What is a cryptoquip puzzle?

A cryptoquip is a puzzle where a phrase , usually corny, uses different letters for the actual letter. For example ( X QERT PEW) E=O and P=Y. To start , add in the new letters( and by the way , letters usually don't equal themselves). (X QORT YOW) Now , you start to deduce what "X" is. I and A are the only two possibilities, and usually assume it's "I". Now place in "I" for "X" (I QORT YOW). Now try to figure out what "YOw" is . The only word I can think of is you, but there might be others , but go with what is common (I QORT YOU). Now it comes to using your head. Usually there will be more to the puzzle to help you , but if nothing helps , again think of something generic , corny, simple, etc. and the cryptoquip comes out to "I love you!". It's just a simple thing that's fun once you get the hang of it!
