A curriculum vitae is essentially an academic resume. It doesn't have the limitations of a standard resume in terms of length and what one includes on it. It's generally required for teaching jobs where it's important to know things like one's teaching philosophy, publications, subjects taught, etc. So it's an expanded resume geared for the teaching profession. But outside of the world of teaching, it's not really used very much.

∙ 10y agoA urriculum vitae or CV as it is known in the legal community is very similar to a resume. It includes biographical information, education and work experience. If the CV is for an expert witness, it also includes court cases the expert has successfully testified in. A CV may include media appearances including newspaper articles where the expert witness was interviewed.
One main purpose for a CV is to present to a court as a tool when qualifying an expert to testify in a litigation.
