If it's like the DSL terminology, these terms refer to the upload/download speeds. Symmetrical means that the upload (sending) speed is the same as the download (receiving) speed. Asymmetrical means that the upload and download speeds are not the same. This is the most common, especially for home use. Typically the download speed is faster than the upload speed (more data is usually downloaded than uploaded). If somebody was running a website or server, they might want the opposite, because they would be sending out more than receiving.

Asymmetrical is more common, because it makes better use of the resources. For simplicity, say you decide to pay for the equivalent of a total bandwidth of 30 Mbps (megabits per second). They could either allocate the resources as 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload, or 15 & 15. So depending on your needs, if you download a lot, you'd probably want the faster download speed, without having to pay for the faster upload speed, which you may not really need.

Difference between a symmetrical shape and an asymmetrical shape?

symmetrical is where if you split it in half it would look the same on both sides but flipped over and asymmetrical is where each side is different thank you. you really helped me.

What is the difference between symmetrical balance and asymmetrical balance?

A symmetrical balance has its fulcrum at the midpoint of the horizontal bar and equal weights at either end. In an asymetrical balance the fulcrum is not at the centre and consequently the weights on the two sides are in inverse proportion to the lengths of the horizontal bar to the fulcrum.

What is the difference between broadband and wifi?

The most basic difference between broadband and wifi is that the broadband must be connected while wifi is wireless. Some broadbands could be wireless as well but they most then be connected by a router.

Approximate Symmetry is approximately symmetrical. Regular Symmetry is Symmetrical for sure.

What can the difference between mean and median values infer. If the mean is 8 655.7 and the median -8 653.0?

First, I will give an example, similar to your question: -11000 -9000 +44000 mean = 8,000 and median = -9000. Symmetrical distributions after infinite sampling will show no difference in mean and median. Large differences are possible with small sample sizes even with symmetrical distributions. If the sample is large and the difference is large, this infers that the distribution is asymmetrical. The skewness of the distribution can be calculated.
