Socialism has some major weaknesses. A particular group allocates resources but these resources frequently do not benefit the people. New York state has the highest gasoline taxes in the nation and some of the worst roads. The money originally meant for roads has been diverted. In Europe, the governments control communications. The governments refuse to invest in high speed internet. Other priorities keep claiming their money. The governments claim they want to develop the equivalent of Silicon Valley but when push comes to shove, the willingness to take the first step is not there. In China, money from the central government is sent through the regional government and never gets to its intended target at the municipal level. Too much opportunity for fraud exists.

Basically, socialism fails for several reasons: it diverts money from capital improvements. It starts paying bureaucrats more and more money than equivalent workers get in the private sector. Fraud increases. Incompetent people are placed into high office. And, the general population suffers more and more.

Such governments have been thrown out of office by elections or a coup.

That, even though it all sounds good on paper, it doesn't work in real life. People in the government get greedy and end up getting more power than other people. There also is free enterprise, something that let us have our own businesses. Check the link for more info.

Socialism is not communism but it is pretty similar, it exists in America. Most countries in Europe are slight more socialist than American, like France, Greece, Spain, and they are doing good except they havent had any economic growth lately. Socialism is the redistribution of wealth. For example when you pay your taxes, and the value that you pay is based in a percentage of your income, this can be considered socialism. People that receive more, will pay more for the same goods, (roads etc). However, pure socialism is dangerous because it is unsustainable. When the economy folds, like what is happening in Venezuela, the government will have to use fear in order to stay into power. A pure socialist state will eventually lead to a totalitarian state by nature (economics) just like any unsustainable system.

It is proven that we need some redistribution of health in the economy for it to work. If you are rich is easier for you to get richer. Without redistribution of health the Mooney will flow to a very small group of people, we need redistribution to stabilize the system. (Google needs to do the same thing in the algorithm that they use in the search engine, same mathematical problem).

The problem is how much redistribution of wealth is too much. If you redistribute everything it is a problem. If you redistribute 0.1% maybe it is not enough.

There is other problems with this solution but socialism is part of the modern economic system and the question is how much socialism is too much.

As seen in Soviet Russia, it created an aristocracy of long-serving Party members, who could not be sacked for incompetence, or even criticised by the common folk.

These people had to be bribed before they would supply any of the services they were aid to provide. The state had a monopoly over everything. For example, there was no private medicine. So if you needed an urgent operation, someone at the Town Hall would have total control life and death in your family, and you had to stay friendly with that individual.

The wheels of business turned with agonising slowness, because no-one was motivated to improve their standards.

There aren’t any. Socialism means a classless stateless society based on production for use, with no rulers or billionaires or homeless.
