There are no inherent disadvantages in using a parallel circuit, but it has a number of advantages compared with a series circuit. For example, each load is subject to the same voltage and, since a load will only operate at its rated power at its rated voltage, the advantage is clear. Another advantage is that, should one branch fail, then the other branches will continue to operate normally.
