A divorced transfer case is not mounted to the tranny it has a separate mount and drive shaft, but is used mainly in hi- lift applications, for a better drive line angle.
The transmission is completely different in these two. The Sidekick has an integral transfer case, the Samurai is divorced (separate) transfer case. Although anything may be possible I have never seen this conversion and it will not 'Bolt' on.
to the best of my knowledge it was produced from 1967 to mid year of 1977. they had what is called a divorced transfer case with a short driveshaft between the transmission and the transfer case. they may have been produced earlier but im not sure.
Noises from transfer case
Remove all wires attached to the transfer case. Remove the driveshafts. Drain the fluid out of the transfer case. Place a transmission jack under the transfer case. Unbolt the transfer case from the transmission. Unbolt the crossmember the transfer case rests on.

You can not transfer acourt case unless yours is federal. If it is google transfer federal co.urt case
transfer case will not bolt to the t56, its 2wd only. would have to fab up a remote or divorced t-case setup or a custom tailshaft($$$) , or run 2wd.
