It is Very Dangerous. Take them to a vet immidietly.

ANSWER:

Metabolism is the bodies rate of burning calories. If you run twenty miles a day your metabolism will be high; you will be burning a lot of calories. If you sit on the couch all day your metabolism will be low and you will not burn very many calories. Food intake needs to be adjusted accordingly. Some have a naturally higher metabolism than others but any animals metabolism can be increased by more exercise. The rate of metabolism does drop with age; a older dog will naturally have a lower rate of metabolism than a puppy.

An animals Metabolism is their energy level and how quickly or slowly they digest the food they eat. Every living animal has a metabolism, humans do too. It refers to how quickly you or a dog or an animal "metabolizes" it's food- meaning how quickly their bodies use or "burn up" the energy that their food gives them.

Some people are just born with slow metabolisms, so their bodies take longer to digest whatever they eat. Also when you have a slow metabolism you tend to have low energy and when you have low energy you tend to not want to do anything. you just want to lie around and sleep alot. When you don't move around a lot or exercise you won't burn off many calories, so you will have much more body fat and it will be harder for you to lose weight.

Dogs and people are generally born with faster metabolisms and (just like any other animal) as they grow older and older their metabolism sloooooows down. So if you get a puppy or even a dog thats a couple years old, they're probably a high energy dog that always wants to play. These younger dogs need to eat more than older dogs (Say a small meal 2 to 3 times a day. Where as an old dog may only eat once or twice.) Obviously it also depends on the weight and the breed AND HOW MUCH you feed them. I say generally it's MUCH better to feed your dog a couple smaller meals rather than one large meal. For some reason some people that think it's just fine to feed the dog ONCE a day, and that's that! But it makes no sense because say you feed your dog in the evening, by noon the next day he/she is going to be STARVING, but the poor dog has got to wait another 5 or 6 hrs to be fed! Its spending most of it's day thinking about eating because it's so hungry rather than thinking about doggy stuff....it's insane! outside ) The younger dogs use up and burn off the food they eat a lot faster because they're moving around so much. They also need lots of nutrients and vitamans to help support their growing bodies. If the young dogs didn't get the proper food with all the vitamans and minerals that's made for them they'd have no energy so they wouldn't be able to keep on growing and keep on playing. They would be unhealthy and their bodies wouldn't be able to protect against viruses and other illnesses.

So thats what it is......a dogs metabolism can be slow or fast depending on how slowly or how fast the dog metabolizes their food (converts their food into energy). Hope that I explained it in a way that you understand.

Can dogs take motrine?

I would not give the dog any medication without first contacting a vet. It depends on the breed, what's causing the pain, the dogs size, etc. You have to remember, a dogs metabolism is different than a humans. We gave our Golden Tylenol and it was fine, but we checked with the vet first.I would not give the dog any medication without first contacting a vet.
