Esthetics- Originates from the Greek word aesthetikos (meaning " perceptible to the senses"), it is a branch of anatomical science that deals with the overall health and well-being of the skin, the largest organ of the human body. An esthetician (or aesthetician) is a person devoted to, or professionally occupied with, the health and beauty of the skin. Estheticians provide preventive care for the skin and offer treatments to keep the skin healthy and attractive. They are trained to detect skin problems that may require medical attention; however unless an esthetician is also a licensed dermatologist, he or she cannot prescribe medication or give medical treatments. Estheticians are Skin Care specialists and consultants, who hold a license issued by their state that establishes an esthetician as a qualified practitioner in the field of esthetics. They preform all manner of facials and facial massage, apply make-up, preform body treatments, and may also manufacture, sell, or apply cosmetics. Estheticians are expected to be knowledgeable about skin care. They are trained to preform specialized services and to advise and educate clients on products and techniques. Hope this helps!

An esthetician generally takes care of one's skin through facials, waxing, and other kinds of body treatments. They mostly focus on skin care and are trained to treat skin conditions such as acne. Estheticans have learned to extract things like blackheads and exfoliate the skin using various spa treatments. Most estheticans are found in salons or skin care spas. To be a esthetician, one must earn a certain number of training hours and pass a test (written and hands-on).

Estheticians work at salons and day spas. Estheticians specialize in beautifying the skin. They perform cosmetic skin treatments including hair removal, massage, body wraps, skin care, eyelash and eyebrow tinting, and makeup. They also specialize with machine treatments such as non surgical face lifts and faradic muscle tone. The specialist may undergo special training for treatments such as laser hair removal and electrolysis. They must be licensed in the state they are working in. In order to become one they must complete 260 to 600 hours of training and pass both a written and hands-on exam. Estheticians usually work under a dermatologist's supervision and usually take care of patients with mild cases of acne. It has been shown that patients who get facials have a higher chance of reducing the intenseness of their acne.
