The gold plating only adds a few cents worth of metal value to the coin, as well as making it an altered coin by numismatic standards. As such, it's only worth its intrinsic metal value, depending on its date:
1971 and later - face value only (50c)
1965-1970 - About $3 for the underlying silver/copper mix
1964 and earlier - about $6 for the underlying silver
Once a coin has been altered in any way, even plated in gold, it will have very little value to anyone beyond the original purchaser (who will usually not be a numismatist).
However, your coin cannot be a genuine Kennedy half dollar because that design wasn't issued until 1964. Any Kennedy "coin" dated 1960 is a private issue item and not a US Mint product.
If you want an answer more useful than "50 cents", you will need to provide more information; the type and year of coin, and the condition.
Check that coin again. Kennedy wasn't put on the half dollar until 1964.
what was the value of a dollar in the 1960's
There is no such thing as a 1960 silver dollar coin.
The extra date and the gold plate were added after the coin left the mint. Collector value = none. Novelty value = a couple dollars.
It's been altered after it was minted. No extra value.
Check the date or rather series again. US dollar bills were not made in 1960.
Uh, JFK wasn't elected president till 1960. His picture wasn't put on the half dollar until after his death. Please check again and post a new question with the coin's date and design.
I'm guessing according to minimium wage. Approximately up from 1960 the value has risen 60%.
Value is $8.00-$9.00
$4.00- $120.00.
It would be incredibly rare because JFK wasn't even president in 1960. All 1960 half dollars carry a picture of Benjamin Franklin.
Please check your coin again and post a new, separate question. It's either not from 1960, not JFK, or not a dollar. > In 1960 Kennedy was (a) very much alive and (b) was still a senator so his image couldn't legally be on a coin. > The US didn't make any $1 coins from 1936 to 1970 inclusive. > Half dollars carried a picture of Benjamin Franklin from 1948 to 1963. > JFK's picture was put on the half in 1964 following the assassination in November 1963.
