No it doesn't. A diet under 1200 calories is un-healthy. Your body starts shutting down from lack of calories.

Agree with the above response. You will be malnourished. Counting calories is not really the way to go, but making sure the calorie intake is from the right kind of food which has a good type of calorie (usually called negative calories)

There are no good 1,000 calorie diets. At a thousand calories you will end up malnourished and permanently hungry. Calorie controlled diets are a billion dollar industry, and they keep to themselves that calorie counting in and of itself does not help anyone lose weight. It is the type of calorie that matters, if a negative calories (which is good) then you are likely to lose weight, and you can eat more so not feel permanently hungry.

Start loving eggs. For breakfast, get a pan, put a little bit of water in it, then crack an egg, and let it cook in the water. Then when cooked take grated Parmesan cheese and sprinkle it over the egg. If the egg is not cooked enough put it in the microwave. That meal would be 78 calories.

For lunch you could eat a slice of bread, (no butter), with melted cheese over it. That adds up to about 210 calories (depending on the type of bread and cheese). It could be wheat bread and a Kraft cheddar cheese slice, for example.

For dinner, eat very small portions, or don't eat all the food on your plate. Another idea is to boil lettuce and put cheese on it for flavor, that adds up to about 130 calories.

For snacks eat lettuce sprinkled with a little grated Parmesan, that's only 15 calories.

Don't focus on calories so much as exercise. If you exercise regularly, you won't have to look at nutrition facts. I mean, unless you go crazy with the nummies.

As little as 20m a day, 5 days a week worth of exercise can work wonders not just on your appearance, but also on your health, which will make you feel more energized thruout the day.

Try doing a routine where you rotate between pushups, squats, and jumping jacks. Look up the correct form on YouTube. Do each of these exercises for about 20 reps (more for the jacks, less for the pushups obv) and just keep going non-stop for 20 minutes. I promise you will be visibly slimmer in about a month, and it will only get better as you keep going. Plus you'll be better in bed. (;

Why wont you lose weight if you eat less than 1000 calories?

You will eventually lose weight on a 1000 calorie diet. On such a low calorie intake, the body starts eating away at muscle for nutrients. This is not good. Consult a registered dietician.

Can eating half portion sizes help to lose weight?

What happens if you reduce your calorie intake by 1000?

Everybody has a basal metabolic rate. This is the amount of calories required to keep one's body functional at rest. This normally ranges from 1000-1500 calories. Any exercise must be fuelled by more calories. If more excercise is being done than what one's calorific intake can fuel, the body will digest its own stores. Fat is often the main store used. So, if you were to decrease your calorie intake by 1000 and that therefore was not enough to fuel your exercise, weight loss would occur. If you reduced your calorie intake by 1000 and you were still consuming more than your exercise requirements then one would put on weight. If a reduction of 1000 calories means your total calorific intake was less than your basal metabolic rate, a severe and unhealthy amount of weight loss would occur. Muscular digestion would occur and healthiness would rapidly decline

Do you have to burn more calories than you eat to lose weight?

Yes. Irregardless of how much you eat, as long as you burn off more than what you eat you'll lose weight. If it seems impossible to do so the decrease your calorie intake to below 1000 calories(Preferably 750 calories). High weight exercises aren't as effective as body weight circuit training.

Eating fewer calories and still not losing weight?

To lose weight you don't just need to consume less calories (energy) - you need to consume less calories than you need... So how many calories do you need?... Well if you were to spend all day doing nothing you would use approximately 15 calories per pound of body weight, so if you weigh 200 pounds you would use 3000 calories ped day. If you were to start doing things such as walking, running, swimming, gardening, house cleaning then you would use more calories, you can find out how many here www.myfitnesspal.com/exercise/lookup To lose one pound of fat you need a deficit of 3500 calories, which is the same as losing one pound per week by creating a deficit of 500 calories per day. So to lose two pounds per week would require a deficit of 1000 calories per day, 3 pounds per week 1500 calories per day and so on... You should aim to derive half of you calorie deficit through reducing your food intake and the other half through exercise. So if a 200 pound person wanted to lose 2 pounds per week they would require a calorie deficit of 1000 calories per day. This means they would require a net calorie intake of 2000 calories per day. So they would need to reduce their calorie intake from food to 2500 calories per day and also do sufficient exercise each day to use up 500 calories, then their net calorie intake would be 2000. Food-Intake - Base-Calorie-Usage - Exercise-Calorie-Usage = Calorie-Deficit2500 - 3000 - 500 = -1000 calories

The daily amount of calories needed depends on many factors including a person's age, height, physical activity, body mass, and many other variables. The average calorie intake for a man is considered 2000-2100 for women and 2700-2900 for men. However an avid athlete may require 6000 or more calories. This is for your coursework in health and fitness How much weight can be lost in one week when eating 100 calories or less And how much weight can be lost in a week on a diet of 1000 calories?

It depends on your metabolism and calorie expenditure. Let's say your body naturally expands 2000 calories a day. If you eat 1000 calories a day and expend 2000 calories a day you are losing 1000 calories worth of weight a day. A pound of body fat roughly requires 3500 calories to be expended. At this rate, within a week you'd create a calorie deficit of 7000 Calories, which equates to about 2 pounds lost. Good Luck
