a good science project for a 5th grade student could be which is which coke or pepsi. You could take two or three bottles of diet pepsi and poke small holes in the caps. Then put a different flavor of a mentos in each one. They should shoot pepsi up.

You could do the millon dollar project, but instead of buying all the stuff has them "use" item to make the items
It depends on what you want to do. but i think it could be a good project just depend on what you are doing and see if you could do it or not.
