Some good map generating seeds are
- 1337 (Nice mountains)
- 9000.1 (Nice flat land and a "Hawaii' style islands
- 404 (big gravel sink hole that connects to a cavern system)
- CREEPERS (lots of mob spawning points)
Using 'gimmeabreak' without quotes as a world seed in Beta 1.8.1 creates the spawn point in a village, assuming you have structure generation enabled.
