A niche includes adaptations (structural, behavioral and physiological), habitat, feeding habits (what is eats, what eats it) and activity (nocturnal or diurnal) so:

Adaptations: They have long hind legs to be able to spring forward long distances to avoid/escape predators they have an exoskeleton for protection and are camouflaged colour to prevent being seen easily.

Habitat: Grasshoppers tend to live in low grass land, pastures, fields, meadows and swamps.

Feeding habits: Grasshoppers are herbivores and feed upon grass, leaves and small plants. Their predators include birds, rodents, reptiles and other small mammals.

Activity: Grasshoppers feed day and night, sleeping small amounts during the night so are technically diurnal.

The ecological niche of a grasshopper is to pass theFrass or droppings which contributes to nutrient turnover by returning nutrients as a sort of fertilizer for plants. They also serve as food for birds, lizards, Spiders, mantids, and rodents. Though, they can destroy crops when they fly in swarms to feed off of the crops. Locusts are actually very close relatives of grasshoppers and they are most famous for feeding off the crops in swarms.
