Best Answer

Many Very Elderly Men Just Snooze Under Newspapers.

Basically this is a proper mnemonic because Pluto isn't a planet.

However if for some reason you are including Pluto:

My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas.

If you don't include Pluto:

  • My Very Excellent Mother Just Sent Us Nachos
  • My Very Expensive Mercedes Just Smashed Up Nowhere
  • My Very Energetic Mother Just Served Us Nachos
  • My very elegant mother just showed us nine
  • My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Noodles
  • My Very Educated Mother Just Saw Uncle Nick
  • My Very Easy Method Just Speeds Up Names
  • My Very Energetic Mother Just Served Ur Nan
  • My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nuts
  • Many Very Elderly Men Just Snooze Under Newspapers

If you include Pluto:

  • My Very Expensive Mercedes Just Smashed Up Near Paramatta.
  • My Very Easy Method Just Speeds Up Naming Planets.
  • Mr. Vam Eats Much Jam Sitting Under Neighbor's Porch.
  • My Very Excellent Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas.
  • My very exquisite mother just served us nine pizzas.
  • My very energetic mum swam under north pole.
  • My very easy method just shows us nine planets.
  • My very easy method just speeds up naming planets.
  • My very easy methods just sums up nine planets.
  • My very elderly mother just sat upon noddy's potty.
  • My Very Eager Mother Just Sat Under Peter.

There is also a song I know which goes like:

Mercury is the first you see

Venus second and the Earth makes 3

And there's Mars Mars the god of war

Jupiter and Saturn make 1 2 more

Uranus 7th planet

Neptune completes the set

8 planets orbiting the sun

What are their names?

1 by 1

-------------

The mnemonic was "My Very Educated Mother Just Showed Us Nine Planets" (MVEMJSUNP) :

My = Mercury

Very = Venus

Educated =Earth

Mother = Mars

Just = Jupiter

Showed = Saturn

Us = Uranus

Nine = Neptune

Planets = Pluto

(Another was "My Very Easy Method Just Speeds Up Naming Planets")

Of course, students since 2006 must remember to exclude Pluto, as it is now a "dwarf planet" along with Ceres, Haumea, Makemake, and Eris.
Just go through the sequence several times - you will learn it eventually. Saying it out loud as you repeat it several times also works, as it tends to help those that have trouble remembering things.

When you are done saying the planets out loud over and over after a few times, try quizzing yourself by covering up the planets (after you've made a list of them in order, which you should try to make from memory), and then mentally quiz yourself, and see if you got it right. Do this several times until you get the order right three times in a row, and do this again a few hours later.

For the record, there are now officially eight planets. Pluto has been demoted to a "dwarf planet".

For me personally, I just did it through repetition. Mercury, Venus Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto (which is no longer classed as a planet but was when I learned the order of them). repeating this over and over a few hundred times really drummed it in.

I guess a quicker and maybe easier way would be to use a sentence such as -

My Very Easy Method Just Shows Us Nicely

or

My Very Eccentric Mother Just Sent Us Nowhere

My Very Excellent Mother Just Served Us Nachos.

Plump Mrs. Martian Voted Every Ninth Unicorn Should Jump.Comments: Pluto isn't a planet now, of course.Personally, I find that mnemonic hard to remember!This may help: notice how 5 of the planets have this order: Venus, Earth, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn. The first letter of each planet spells "Venus".You can easily make up your own mnemonic. The trouble is Mercury and Mars begin with "M" so you need a way to distinguish between them.

What is an easy way to learn the names of the planets?

You can learn planet names by memorizing this mnemonic sentence: "My very educated mother just served us nachos."
