A mulatto is a person with black ancestry and white ancestry, or black and white parents. This term is not in technical use these days, and is found offensive in some cultures, but endearing in others.

Depends on what the other parent is. If the mulatto parent was half black and half white, the child would be 25% black, 25% white, and 50% whatever the other parent is.
Mulattoes is another name for African. So, they had dark skin.
