It readily eats bacteria and protozoa and is used in sewage water treatment processes to break down organic material and harmful pathogens, in turn, also decreasing turbidity.

Note also that I'm bending the rules on calling Trichina a microorganism -- I believe the larvae are, but the adult is visible with the naked eye.
