Probiotics are living bacteria that aid the body in digesting and with the production of vitamins within your digestive tract through a process of fermentation. Much the same way apple cider is fermented into apple cider vinegar, or grains are fermented into alcohols.

Probiotics is a very general term that lightly describes over 2,000 various micro organisms that your body "cultivates"

Think of it this way your body is a garden, and in the garden there are many things growing there. In order for the garden to be beautiful there must be organisms that live well together and help each other. The problem with a dying garden is that the weeds have overgrown the garden.

Probiotics do in fact inhibit the growth of the weed fungus, and weed type bacteria. When you consume antibiotics most of the good probiotic bacteria are killed, but not the weeds or bad bacteria, and then it is free to infest the garden of your body as most of these bad bacteria are also antibiotic resistant.

Probiotics do not preserve anything.

That is what antibiotics do when added as preservatives in food stuffs such as breads to keep them from molding and turning green before you can make it home from the grocery store.

Probiotics are good bacteria, which helps fight harmful invaders in the body. Lactic acid bacteria is a specific type of probiotic.

Wikipedia defines lactic acid bacteria as, "These Bacteria, usually found in decomposing plants and lactic products, produce Lactic_acidas the major metabolic end-product of Carbohydratefermentation. This trait has, throughout history, linked LAB with Fermentation_(food), as acidification inhibits the growth of spoilage agents. Proteinaceous Bacteriocinsare produced by several LAB strains and provide an additional hurdle for spoilage and Pathogenmicroorganisms. Furthermore, lactic acid and other metabolic products contribute to the organoleptic and textural profile of a food item. The industrial importance of the LAB is further evidenced by their Generally_recognized_as_safe(GRAS) status, due to their ubiquitous appearance in food and their contribution to the healthy microflora of human Mucosalsurfaces. The Genusthat comprise the LAB are at its core Lactobacillus, Leuconostoc, Pediococcus, Lactococcus, and Streptococcusas well as the more peripheral Aerococcus, Carnobacterium, Enterococcus, Oenococcus, Sporolactobacillus, Teragenococcus, Vagococcus, and Weisella; these belong to the order Lactobacillales." Who sells oxalobacter probiotic supplements?

If you are looking for specific brand of probiotic supplements I suggest checking on eBay/Amazon since those would be the most likely places to have that. If you are looking for quality health supplements you might try the ones offered by Jigsaw.

Where do the probiotic microbes in your gut come from?

The gastrointestinal tract of a normal fetus is sterile. Babies born vaginally became inoculated with microbes from their mothers, including Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, E.coli and Enteroccoccus. This mixture gives them an immediate natural defense barrier of probiotic microbes that protect against pathogens, and affect their health throughout life.Probiotic foods, including fermented vegetables (sauerkraut, pickles, kimchi) fermented drinks (kefir, kombucha), and fermented soy products (miso, tempeh, natto, soy yogurt) contain probiotic microbes as a result of fermentation or through the addition of a live culture. Eating these foods has the potential of helping you balance your intestinal microbes and thereby improve your health. Probiotic supplements are also sold as pills that contain millions of friendly bacteria, and sometimes yeast. You can buy them in natural food stores, usually in the refrigerated section. Probiotics are non-toxic.Encourage the growth of healthy probiotic microbes by eating healthy foods and avoiding antibiotics, whenever possible. This means mother's milk for infants and unrefined plant foods for children and adults. Babies delivered by cesarean section or fed formula may benefit from probiotics specifically designed for infants. You may also want to take probiotic supplements after a course of prescribed antibiotics in order to help reestablish healthy intestinal microbes. Finally, if you still suffer from irregular bowel movements, indigestion, elevated cholesterol, or arthritis, then you may want to try enhancing your probiotic microbes with supplements.
