A purity ring doesn't have to be a ring, it can also be a necklace, a bracelet or some other item that represents and reminds you of your purity vow. I myself have a purity ring. I highly recommend thinking seriously before getting one because it can cause you to have more guilt when you do something sexual or break your vow completely, more so than if you did so without having made a purity vow. The reason being is that its a visible sign of your vow and if you break your vow its a reminder to you every single day of what you did but if you take it off people will start asking questions. That commitment being to maintain the purity of mind and body until they take the vows of marriage. This is not something that can only be done by someone who is pure. This can be done by anyone who wants to change the path they are on, to create a new road for themselves.

As said above, it doesn't have to be a ring and can be anything given to you that you wear as a reminder of that promise. It can carry a heavy weight, but it can also give you the time needed to slow down and think with you head and not your heart. Sometimes that is a good thing, just having the object can help a person handle wanted (or unwanted) peer pressure.

This is not something that you shoud be pressured into doing. It is a hard vow to hold true to, and should only been taken after long consideration, and discussion of both sides of the issue. It can be very rewarding when handled responsibly, and with an understanding of all the lifestyle differences, but it can also cause heart-break for those who are not really prepared for the hardships that may come with it. The ring, or object itself, is only as powerful as each person makes it. But it is a very real powerful reminder of how strong the vow you took is.

Hey guys, I also wear a purity ring. (: I started wearing one because I read the book "Pure" by Terra Elan McVoy! Great book! Its so inspiring. A lot of my friends didn't want to read it because they thought it was just talking about purity rings, but it actually is a story. I would recommend it to anyone thinking about getting a purity ring. And like the other people above me said, don't just get a purity ring because the Jonas Brothers have one, or one of your friends have one. My purity ring means so much to me, I have engraved inside it, "True love will wait" A purity ring is a promise to God, (or yourself if your not a christian, or don't want a christian purity ring) that you won't have sex until your married, and will only have make love to your husband.
