Answer:
Radar is an acronym for RAdio Detection and Ranging. It uses RF (Radio Frequencies) to detect and range a so called "Target". It is an active sensor which mean that it emits power (RF waves) which bounces off a target and are detected when the wave is received. The time delay between transmission and detection produces range given that the RF wave propagates at a uniform speed.
