What is a schipperke?

Answer:
A: Tailless Little Black Dog

A schipperke is a small black dog, that looks like a black fox with no tail, that originates from Belgium. It is said that they were boat dogs or ratters and that their breed was originally popular with the merchants there. They can be mean, although most people that I have met said that their dogs were wonderful pets. They have alot of energy, they are smart and protective, and should always be on a leash.

My dog was the sweetest girl and a wonderful companion. She lived 17 years and eight months and was my best friend. I would recommend the breed if someone does research to make sure that they are a good match for the owner(s). She was excellent with other dogs and children. She loved to walk and was friendly to everyone. (some are not friendly with strangers) She had some unusual health issues. It seems that there are some health problems that are now prevelant that can shorten these usually long-lived dogs lives.
