"Smooth" or "as smooth as" im not ENTIRELY sure but it certainly seems to make a heck of a lot more sense than "solid"

A simile compares TWO different things using the word like or as. Glass and Ice are the simile and they are both solids. ”As smooth as,” is not a simile but if you add the word Silk after the second As, then it is. The word ”Smooth" is an idiom.
