Bears, Wolves, Foxes, Coyotes, you name it. They will certainly try to go after a skunk. But most predators, know skunks well enough to have the skunk left alone. The horned owl, however, is immuned to skunk spray and has a very poor sense of smell so an owl can catch a skunk and consume it without dificulty.

YOU OF COURSE! They are gonna spray if they even see you. You can also be a predator if you are near it, if it feels ofended or under attack. Be careful. They are hard to spot!

Could the skunk you caught in a live trap by the pen be killing chickens by getting them at night?

Yes a skunk will take eggs and kill chickens. Late at night when the chickens roost they are very docile and will allow a predator to come right up to them without much fear.

Why do skunks squeal?

I think they squeal because a predator may have ahold of them and they are frightened. I say this because last night I had my widow opened a little and I hear a high pitch squealing and then I smelled a skunk. So, this is just a hunch. I thought maybe an owl got the skunk.
