A solar eclipse does not need to be capitalized and it happens when the moon gets in between the earth and sun and I mean EXACTLY in between them. Then we can't see the sun and we only see the moon. If you only see the corona of the sun, then it is a total eclipse. If we can only see the corona and a little of the sun, then it is a annular. If the moon is covering part of the sun but you can still see a lot of the sun, it is a partial. And lastly, if it starts out as an annular and changes to a total as it moves, it is a hybrid.
