A poem structure is a type of poem - For example-
Imagine
I like to dream and
Make things up
And then I change my mind.
Greatest thing about
Iimagining is how
Nothing is possible.
Every wish comes true.
The structure is the letter that each line starts with.
All poems have structure, it just means how it is set out on the page! For example how many stanzas it has. If they all have the same number of lines and is their a pattern in the lenght of the lines. In some poems stanzas will all be regular but perhaps two lines will be set out on their own between stanzas or at the end. Usually this is to draw attention to what ever is in those two lines. Very often the structure of the poem will reflect he content. For example military themed poems often have a very regular/regimented structure with a very ridgid rhyme scheme. However, if a poem or a stanza of a poem is about chaos tche length of the lines wil be irregular to reflect dischordance. If a poem is romantic the structure depends on when it was written, but usually there will be lots of enjambment where sentences will run on to perhaps two or three lines to reflect a dreamy floaty effect of looove. So, when analysing the structure of a poem look at what it looks like on the page and ask your self why. Is it structured in the tradion of when it was written eg Sonnet? Or is it structured to reflect the content and if there is obvious quirks in the structure the poet is drawing out attention to something! look out for refrains or ending in rhyming couplets these are to reinforce an idea! I hope this is helpful in some way. Don't panic about poetry, poets write the same as song writers, for the ear so this often dictates structure.

One way the reader can tell that "The Raven" is an example of structured poetry is the consistent rhyme scheme and meter throughout the poem. The use of internal rhyme and repetition also contributes to the structured nature of the poem. Additionally, the poem's stanzas are of uniform length, adding to its formal structure.
