In Anglican churches such as The Episcopal Church and the Church of England, a suffragan bishop (or bishop suffragan) is an assistant to a diocesan bishop. Anglican bishops suffragan do not usually have right of succession. The position is similar to those of the bishops auxiliary in the Roman Catholic Church.
The first definition refers to a "coadjutor" bishop, with the right of succession, as he existed in the Roman Catholic Church before the Vatican II Council.
