Count Olaf is always trying to get to the Baudelaire's fortune. He dresses up in diguises and tries to be their friend, but they know who he is and what he's trying to do. In every book, they get sent to live with a friendly person that doesn't believe that he is Olaf. Some of them are his henchmen. In the end, the Baudelaires always out- smart him. I definitely recommend reading this series.
