allows for the thermostat to always be open never fully completely shutting close. The old ones closed complete, then hoses blew, now you get the trickle and warning you have a problem.

Where is the jiggle valve on a Jeep Cherokee?

The jiggle valve's a small hole on the thermostat itself (not a separate part). It's merely there to help free the system of trapped air. Follow the hose from the top of the radiator to the motor and you should find the thermostat housing. Removing the housing will reveal the thermostat and at the top of the Tstat should be a small hole -- that would be the jiggle valve (if your thermostat actually has one).

Why is there no heat in a 1997 Toyota even after the thermostat was changed?

What is a jiggle valve?

Jiggle valve is a small aperture valve in outer casing of engine (IC engines) thermostat which vents the air trapped inside the cooling system when filling or topping up the system with coolant and hence ensures the 'full coolant no air trap' condition in radiator and water jackets.

What is the function of the jiggle pin in a Camry thermostat?

Most thermostats have a Jiggle pin. Its function is to allow trapped air past a closed thermostat as a build up of air in front of the wax capsule could cause engine damage. The wax capsule relies on coolant to relay heat to operate. If air was surrounding the capsule and the engine was at operating temperature, the stat would remain closed and cause the engine to overheat.

Where is the thermostat located on a 1993 Mercury Villager?

The thermostat is located inside the thermostat housing above the drive belts... (Note: The correct thermostat is equipped with a jiggle valve that allows a small amount of coolant to flow through the thermostat at all times, relieving any excess pressure in the cooling system.) Engine compartment passenger side about 5" back from the distributer cap under the water hose the housing of the thermostat is connected with 4 bolts, it

Where is the thermostat located on a 1994 Nissan PU 4-cylinder?

Follow the top radiator hose to the water outlet, remove 3 bolts and pull water outlet off and remove thermostat.: The jiggle valve on the thermostat should always face upward-KA24E engine.Loosen the securing nuts, then remove the water outlet, gasket, and thermostat from the thermostat housing. When installing the thermostat, always use a new gasket with sealer and make sure the thermostat spring is facing the inside of the engine. The water outlet housing on VG30i and VG30E engines has the letters UPR and an arrow embossed on the flange edge; they should always be pointing up. The KA24E, VG30i and VG30E engines have a jiggle valve on the thermostat which should always be facing up. Water outlet mounting screws should be tightened to 12-15 ft. lbs. (16-21 Nm) on all engines but the KA24E, which should be tightened to 5-6 ft. lbs. (7-8 Nm). Refill and check the coolant level

What is a thermostat jiggle pin?

The Jiggle pin allowes any trapped air behind the thermostat to pass through. Without this the engine could overheat. The thermostat uses engin coolant to melt a wax capsule and allow coolant to pass. The engin could be at operating temp and the thermostat would not open due to air being in contact with the capsule instead of the actual coolent. This would most likely lead to an overheating engin, and damage.
